Left heart failure: When people use that term, they usually mean passive lung congestion - left heart failure is the most common cause (there's usually a diagnosis of "congestive heart failure"). Mitral stenosis and pulmonary veno-occlusive disease round out the list. Most other lung constrictive processes occur at the arteriolar level or before, so it's important to be very specific about the terminology here.
