Abnormal: Abnormal weight gain should be investigated by your doctor with metabolic and endocrine blood tests.

Count calories: You can lose weight if the amount of calories you burn up is greater than the amount of calories you consume. If you are still swelling despite limiting your calories then get checked. If your protein blood level or Albumin levels are low or there is congestive heart failure then swelling can occur.
