Inflammatory bowel: Inflammatory bowel disease can often cause anemia and weight loss, so treating the disease could help you restore the lost weight. This medication is not a steroid and should not cause excessive weight gain. If you are developing swelling that concerns you, you should feel comfortable asking your gastroenterologist about it and if necessary, have a checkup visit.
