Be healthy: It is important to be as healthy as you can be before any major surgery. Usually the surgeon will do a number of imaging studies to get prepared and know your blood vessel anatomy. You will also need to be cleared regarding your lungs and heart to be sure it is safe to proceed. Keep a good attitude and stay upbeat. Avoid alcohol and other medications that cause bleeding or thin the blood.
