Is there a good substitute for lexapro (escitalopram)? it is extremely expensive and my insurance does not cover it. it was the one drug that worked well for me

Celexa (citalopram) : Celexa is available in generic form and has the same active ingredient as lexapro (escitalopram).

Lexapro (escitalopram): While Celexa is one option, and does contain the active ingredient in lexapro, escitalopram, the generic of Lexapro is also available and is probably far less expensive than the brand name medication. You should ask your pharmacist if escitalopram can be substituted and check with your doctor if he or she has written your rx as "dispense as written.".
