SOB: Shortness and breath especially while exerting yourself. Also chest pain. Perhaps reduced movement of the chest on the affected side.

Surgery should work: At preventing further lung collapse. But if you have acute shortness of breath, chest pain, or difficulty breathing, go to the emergency room for chest x-ray and oximetry.
