Psychiatric diagnosi: It sounds like the er doctors "ruled out" or excluded the possibility that your heart was the cause of the chest pain. Then it appears that they decided the source of your pain was psychiatric. Manic episodes, panic attacks and anxiety attacks are psychiatric conditions that can cause chest pain. It is possible that they made a a mistake in their diagnosis, and if they did, I am sorry.

Sorry: Sometimes patients have a psychological reason for their chest pain - and if the doctors were convinced you were not having a heart attack they may have felt it worth exploring. I realize how this can be upsetting, but hopefully it has all been resolved and your pain is gone. Good luck!
