Possible relapse: I hope that you are feeling better. Pain to the degree that you describe is very concerning and warrants immediate attention. It can represent a recurrence of bowel obstruction. Most bowel obstructions are related to "scar tissue" from previous surgery and some require emergent operative intervention.

Be cautious: If it lasts more than a few hours or is associated with fever/chills, recurrent vomiting, or inability to pass gas, you should go to the er.
