Join Toastmasters: That's a bit tongue in cheek. What i mean is, get yourself into situations where you have to get up and speak. Practice small presentations and move up to more lengthy and larger audience presentations as you gain more confidence in your presentations. There are all kinds of situations where you can practice. Inderal (propranolol) 20mg about an hour or two prior to speaking can reduce the "performance" anxiety.

Stay active: Exercise is a great way to relieve stress. Your body releases endorphins during exercise, which can help you feel calm. If you exercise 30 - 60 minutes a day, your stress levels can improve. When stressed, take 5 slow, deep breaths with your eyes closed, then roll your shoulders forward 5 times, then back 5 times. This will slow your heart rate and release tension in your neck and shoulders.

Benzos: Benzodiazepines such as Xanax (alprazolam) or Lorazepam are very useful and becomes effective within 30 min to one hour of taking it. Drowsiness or addiction issues are potential issue. But it is safe if used in small dose and as needed. Talk to your doctor.

Xanax (alprazolam) may help but: Everybody gets nervous during presentations. The more you do it the better you learn to deal with it. Do not look look at the public, look on top of their heads or talk to the wall you have in front of you. Get some summaries or important information written so you can provide factual information ( use power point or similar programs to make the presentation) they help 2 follow train of thoughts.

Toastmasters: There are groups called toastmasters that help people with public speaking anxiety. There are also some medications that can help, such as benzodiazepines or beta-blockers (e.g. Metoprolol) taken in low dose just prior to the speaking event.
