It depends....: A brief psychotic disorder is defined as lasting under one month, and can be related to many things; sometimes people recover fully. Other brief psychoses occur in the context of illnesses such as depression or bipolar disorder, and typically resolve within two months but may last lonter. Schizophreniform disorder involves psychosis lasting fewer than 6 months and the prognosis is good.
