A member asked:

Can psychiatric medication provide counterintuitive response if you no longer require them? example, i noticed that my seroquel was causing my psychosis to continue way after i quit doing drugs. initially it did provide a cure but not long term?

There is not an easy answer to this question. You should follow up with an addictionologist or psychiatrist for further evaluation and discussion. You may need to stop the seroquel but that should be done under physician supervision. You may nee a different medication.

Appears to be somewhat complex, and your medication response will depend upon your dose, other meds or drugs, your individual metabolic responses, and co-morbidities. Not fully clear as to what has been accomplished with your current treatment. The current psychiatrist should be consulted as he(she) knows you best and can readily objectify your concerns.
