Week or so: After the bone gos to th lab it has to be demineralized, stained, and viewed microscopically, if any question obout the diagnosis, rather than give the wrong DX to you the bxs are sent out for opinions from other experts. So if simple a week if harder to dx, 2-3 weeks depending on the speed they are sent out and viewed and returned.

2-5 days: Bone needs to be decalcified before it can be processed. It takes 5-10 hours of fixation; 5-10 hours of processing, 2-3 hours to cut, stain and create teh slides, and then a day for the pathologist to read it. Good luck.
