Insomnia: One possible alternative is melatonin on as needed basis, vallerian tea & sleep hygiene.

Another sleep med: Restoril (temazepam) is generally safe for use for much longer periods of time than 8 days, so first i would suggest you use it as your doctor prescribes it. There is no seroquel withdrawal syndrome, although if you were on seroquel for sleep (it's not indicated for that) it makes sense that you would have problems sleeping now. Other choices that are not addictive, such as trazadone are also available.

Agree wit dr Jordan : Seroquel (quetiapine) is antipsychotic medication and not sleep medication and should not be used for sleep only.
