A member asked:

Are abnormal liver enzymes linked with any cancers other than liver cancer, such at uterine or ovarian?..

Not Really: Abnormal liver enzymes can occur if metastasis happens, but this can happen for any type of cancer. Metastasis as were cancer cells spread to other parts of body, for instance, to the liver. The only labs that we have that can detect uterine/ovarian cancer include a pap smear and a ca 125 (cancer antigen).

Yes: Liver enzymes can be abnormal whenever the liver is affected. This can occur from direct injury or inflammation to the liver (primary cancers of the liver, metastatic involvement of the liver, obstruction of liver/bile ducts), the systemic effects of inflammatory proteins and drugs. Many cancers can spread to the liver.

Cancer: The type of ovarian cancer that occurs in women under 30 (germ cell tumors) may cause abnormal liver function tests. A mass should be visible.
