Yes and No: It is critical to have a yearly physical examination that includes a pelvic exam with your doctor. Cervical cancer is screened for by something called a pap smear. This will be done during your pelvic examination. Also during your pelvic examination your doctor can try to feel for any abnormalities in the size of the uterus and possible fullness in the adnexa (where the ovaries are).

Pap test: The best way to screen for cervical cancer is to get a pap test, which is recommended every 3 years between the ages of 21 and 65. There are ways to screen for ovarian and uterus cancer, but they have not been shown to actually work to reduce deaths from these diseases. A good resource for research-proven prevention strategies is an iphone app called my health checklist 2012.
