Sun mixed benefit: Sunlight is essential in making vitamin d. It has been shown to have so many benefits on calcium & bone metabolism, improvement in muscle strength as well as reduction in certain cancers. On the other hand, the same type of sunrays that help in vitamin d production, cause increased incidence of skin cancer. So if you're not getting enough sunlight, make sure you take 2000 units of vitamin d daily.

Yes: It is healthy to have some sun-expoure (but limited). One does not need more than about 1/2 hr a day to make vitamin d but also there are psychologic benefits. If you can't get out , it might be prudent to supplement with oral vitamin d. Make sure you have your vit d levels checked.
