A member asked:

Had my insulin levels checked and it is 35 which i was told is high? could this have cauaed my gastroparesis? have an appt w/ gi in jan.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: An Insulin level doesn't mean much by itself, particularly without knowing a concomitant blood sugar or if you were fasting. If you have gastroparesis as a complication of type 2 diabetes, then the Insulin level suggests you still make insulin, though not enough to control blood sugar. High Insulin levels don't cause gastroparesis.
