Depends see below: Very long or lifetime antibiotics are sometimes used for incurable or difficult to cure infections. Examples are foreign body or hardware infections in which removal is contraindicated. Treatment of chronic osteomyelitis, treatment of tuberculosis, some fungal infections, nocardia infections etc.
