Simple Enough: For the most part, your big worries are just complications of wound healing. Generally speaking, things should get slowly better every day. New redness or pus at the sternotomy, opening of previously closed surgical wounds, or fevers and shaking chills are a problem and your md should be notified. Grafts sometimes don't take and new onset, severe chest pain (not mild) may need eval.

Several things: Things to look for include infections of the wound (increase reddness, warmth, drainge - thin pinkish drainage is common but pus is a problem) increasing shortness of breath, increase leg swelling.Rapid heart rate & fever greater than 101 can be concerning too. Obviously angina, passing out, numbness of weakness of one side are emerg.Encies. If you have a question then call.
