Lungs better lighter: Sleep problems improve rapidly after weight loss. Snoring will usually go away after 20 pounds of weight loss. Sleep apnea will markedly improve after 20 pounds of weight loss.

Breathing problem: Abdominal obesity causes the excess fat to push upward into the chest cavity, reducing lung volume importantly mainly when you lay down. Also, the total weight increase the oxygen required to feed the mass, a vicious circle of harm. Less weight, less fat, less reduction of chest volume, less oxygen to feed excess weight, less demand for the lungs, better sleep by a more relaxed body, and so on...
