Yes there are: You can watch for triggers and eliminate them if possible. These include stress, spicy foods, caffeine, alcohol, chocolate, nicotine, sleep deprivation. Exercise initially makes hot flashes worse but, as a person gets into shape, hot flashes can get milder. Relax into the hot flash--fighting makes it flare, wear wicking light clothes, and bring a small personal fan. There are medicines to help.

Avoid menopause: If you're referring to menopause, the only way is to avoid going through menopause. Estrogens will postpone it until you stop taking them, but there is disagreement about their use and for how long to take them - if at all. Also, there are a variety of causes for hot flashes that have nothing to do with menopause or estrogen. Check with your doctor.
