Should be avoided if: Topamax (topiramate) is considered a category d drug, meaning there are definite birth defects noted. It depends on what you are taking it for. If it is for seizures, the best thing to do is ask your neurologist if it is absolutely necessary. If it is for migraines or pain issues, you may want to wean off prior to getting pregnant. If you must be on it, Folic Acid needs to be taken daily.
