Urology evaluation: If a person's symptoms from orchitis don't resolve, his urologist can re-evaluate to be sure there is not ongoing or recurrent inflammation. Occasionally, a person can have a testicular tumor growing coincidentally after a case of orchitis, so an ultrasound scan may be needed to rule out a tumor inside a testicle, if one testicle remains larger than the other one.
