Midwife deliveries: Nurses trained as midwives can certainly deliver infants where there are minor complications, but an obstetric physician should be available as "backup" in case of a prolonged or complicated labor. Home deliveries when a patient has previously delivered may be done, but the risk is always significant when/if problems occur.
