A member asked:

How serious is it for a 80 yr. old to have pre diabetes? is it true that it could take as long as 25 yrs. to develop into a serious situation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not too serious: Some people with pre-diabetes will develop diabetes within a year or two; others may never develop it (even those starting much younger than 80!) it's never to late to start eating a healthy diet, and get regular exercise. If the pre-diabetes developed while already maintaining a good lifestyle, just keep up the good work and let your doctor check your sugar a few times a year.
