Be yourself: You probably do not have to change your personality . Most likely you just need certain skills to cope with the person you take care of . Get help and advice from people that deals often with people like the person (or his/her condition) you are caring. Involve other people in that pursue (caregiving). Take care of yourself too.

Caregiver qualities: I don’t know you, so I don’t know how well equipped you are to take on the role of caregiving. According to https://seniorsmatter.com/best-caregiving-personalities/ qualities that can bode well for caregiving include being conscientious, open, mentally flexible, sociable, disciplined, well organized and having some degree of selflessness. Maybe you don't need to change anything. (:
