Changes over time: Being a chronic condition, the manifestations can change over time depending on the developmental, social and scholastic needs of the child. Many studies have concluded that kids with add/adhd have a higher incidence of becoming depressesed, and in kids and adolescents you might see a very irritable, moody child. Add may also co-exists with agression, poor interpersonal relationships.

Drug side effects: If a child is on adhd drugs, it is important to know all the potential side effects because the drugs can make them worse. It may not be more adhd symptoms they are developing but side effects of the prescribed drugs.

The natural course : Of adhd for kids with combined-type is that the hyperactivity/impulsivity recedes, leaving an inner sense of restlessness - all those teens & adults who jiggle their legs, tap pencils, or fidget. With education, kids "own" their adhd before puberty, learn organizational skills when they're early teens, understand the need for meds for driving & accomodations for sat's, college & grad school.

Varies: Kids with ADD/ADHD are easily distracted especially in group situations, such as school, home, activities. They may not even hear a complete spoken sentence as a result. So they can appear rude and disruptive. Short-term memory is limited so they forget lots especially if not written down. They get in trouble and become depressed as a result, but can frequently turn it around with treatment.
