What does it mean to get a treadmill test done?

Heart activity: The treadmill stress test has two parts. The first is when you walk/run on the treadmill according to a specific protocol. This measures your EKG at intervals looking for abnormalities that signify decreased or blocked blood flow at various levels of increased activity. This is usually followed by an echocardiogram (ultrasound) to check for wall and valve motion abnormalities in the heart.

Stress test: A treadmill test is a cardiac stress test, in which one exercises on a treadmill in order to make the heart work harder in order to see if this stress test on the heart shows signs that the heart is not getting enough oxygen-rich blood flowing to a part or parts of the heart..
