Recently eaten: Make sure you don't have an infection currently and eat as normal. Don't go in starving; otherwise, you may faint. There are other medical issues that could preclude you from donating but this will be discussed with you at the pre-donation screening interview.

Be informed: For transfusion the main preparation is to have the right information from your doctor and sign a consent for any adverse reaction that may happen during or after the procedure.
