Find the cause: Chronic cough could be from several causes. It could very benign like an upper respiratory infection, in which case it should subside in a few days to weeks. But if it persists beyond 2-3 weeks it should be investigated. Request an allergy referral if the primary care cannot help. Chronic post nasal drip (from allergy), asthma, acid reflux, chronic sinusitis may have to be ruled out.

Needs Eval: She needs to be evaluated by her doctor as there are different etiologies for a chronic cough that have entirely different treatments. Possibilities include bronchospasm, gerd, post-nasal drip or even a combination of these factors. Take her to her doctor asap!
