Hip surgery: The location of the incision depends on the approach to hip used. The common appraoches are anterior, posterior & lateral. The incion for routine hip arhroplasty is about 12-14 cm.

Varies: Incision length varies by surgeon's technique. Many of the less invasive approaches for hip replacement use incisions between 8 and 12 centimeters. For direct anterior approach, the incision is on the front of the hip, just below the crest of the pelvis. Lateral approach incision is on the side of the hip. Posterior approach incision is over the buttock region.

Depends: the size of the incision will depend on the approach chosen for the surgery as well as the body habitus of the patient. generally speaking the incision is on the lateral side of the hip and smaller patients can usually safely undergo surgery with a smaller incision
