Is there anybody who shouldn't take antebuse?

See your doctor: Disulfiram or antebuse is a drug used to treat alcohol abuse. It inhibits the liver pathways that break down alcohol, causing a build up of acetaldehyde, which makes the patient feel sick if s/he drinks while taking this drug. This drug should not be taken unless under a doctor's supervision, so anyone who hasn't had it prescribed specifically for them should not be taking it.

Yes: Anybody in whom an Antabuse (disulfiram) reaction, which can dramatically lower blood pressure, could cause a problem should be cautioned about antabuse (disulfiram). People at risk of heart attack or stroke, those with peripheral vascular disease (blockage of arteries to legs, arms) may have real problem if they get Antabuse (disulfiram) reactions. Those with liver disease also must be very very cautious. Talk to your doctor!
