Absolutely not: Lisinopril is a class of medications called an ace inhibitor. These medications should not be used during pregnancy as they can cause the baby's kidney to be damaged or worse to not develop at all. Managing high blood pressure in pregnancy is very important but it is crucial that you discuss other medication options with your doctor.

Pregnancy Cat D: Taken during pregnancy lisinopril and medications of the ACE inhibitor class are known to cause birth defects including malformations of kidney, lung, arms and legs. Not to be taken during pregnancy. During breastfeeding it can be taken; there will be some transfer into breastmilk, but the risks to baby are much less than during pregnancy. Discuss your available options with your doctor.
