Exercise: To maintain muscle mass, particularly lean body mass, it is necessary to exercise to strengthen and build muscle. Age specific decline occurs in all of us, especially after age 30. Aerobic and strength training are important and preferred choices and best accomplished with the use of a skilled trainer. Pharmacotherapy has also been used, but requires medical evaluation & supervision.

The bottom line is that you need to eat enough protein to maintain your muscles and to do strength training. The world is leaning toward low protein/high carbohydrates foods. When you don't eat enough protein you cannot repair or even keep your muscle mass. Also, walking is often touted as great exercise. It is, but you must do strength training to prevent sarcopenia.
