Yes: Onglyza (saxagliptin) is probably safe in pregnancy, although we recommend insulin. Insulin gives us better control of the blood sugars in pregnancy partly because of the effect hormones can have on your blood sugars.

Category B: It is considered a category b, which means no risk or adverse fetal effects have been shown but no controlled human first trimester studies are available to confirm. There does not appear to be a risk in the second or third trimester.

Agree with Dr Martin: Although category b as mentioned, current standard of care is Insulin to achieve tighter control during pregnancy. Arguments are made to treat pregnant diabetics with oral agents but most obs & mfm specialists prefer Insulin to help avoid the many complications of diabetes in pregnancy. Discuss options with your OB & make sure your blood sugar is <100-105 fasting & <140 one hour after meals.
