A member asked:

Is onglyza (saxagliptin) safe for long-term treatment? has anyone gotten cancer or severe complications from it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Generally safe.: Onglyza (saxagliptin) is not associated with cancer. There are reports of pancreatitis with Onglyza (saxagliptin) and the other dpp-4 inhibitors but that is considered infrequent. Generally Onglyza (saxagliptin) is well tolerated and not associated with significant long term side effects.
