Two types.: The types of myocardial infarctions are broadly characterized as transmural or subendocardial. Many: Mis or heart attacks occur when a vessel in the heart is blocked. Because there are many vessels in the heart, there are many different types of mis. The type depends on the location of the vessel and the extent of damage. For example, and anterior mi occurs when a vessel supplying the front of the heart is blocked. A Q wave mi occurs when the whole thickness of the heart is damaged.
