Combination therapy: Since the attachment problems (disorder) originate when children have been unable to consistently connect with or to get an attention from a parent or primary caregiver, treatment involves a combination of therapy, counseling, and parenting education. http://helpguide.org/mental/parenting_bonding_reactive_attachment_disorder.htm.

It Depends: It depends on the age of the child. Very young kids benefit from a form of therapy called play therapy. Kids who are older may be able to engage in something called exposure therapy or desensitization. The important thing is to begin with clear goals in minds and to see someone with the inappropriate background, knowledge and expertise. Check out facts for families at www.Aacap.Org.
