Is there such thing as obsessive reading disorder?

Never heard of it: I have never heard of ord, but i suppose like any other compulsion, if reading interferes with other healthy activities, it could be problematic. Of course, many parents wish their kids would love to read more, so if it is just someone who likes to read: great! if it interferes with other activities, see your pediatrician.

Semantics: We can be "obsessive" without having ocd. A key feature of OCD is that the person does not enjoy or want to engage in the thoughts and behaviors. Someone who has to stay up all night to finish a book usually does so because of the enjoyment of reading. If the person did so because of a fear that otherwise something really bad might happen, then that might be ocd.

No: There is no such thing as a DSM 5 disorder listed as obsessive reading disorder. People are known to read compulsively, but this is not a disorder. Perhaps you are thinking of obsessive compulsive disorder?
