Yes: Ignore them! calling attention to the tics increases a child's anxiety at having them, which in turn worsens the tics. As long as the tics are not causing a physical problem, it's best to ignore them. If classmates are making an issue of the tics, the school should have an educational in-service for teachers and students to have them learn the proper way to deal with tic disorders.

Tics can stopped: Simply ignoring tics is much better than nagging at kids to stop but doesn't necessarily make the tics go away. There are proven behavioral interventions that can help kids suppress tics or substitute less noticeable behaviors for them. Google habit reversal training.
