Of course: Although, these days, child psychiatrists who also do psychodynamic psychotherapy are very rare. However, if you are lucky enough to find one, it is very effective. The current president-elect of the american academy of child & adolescent psychiatry is very active in this aspect of psychiatry.

YES! Powerful stuff!: Psychodynamic psychotherapy in kids began in 1909 when sigmund freud supervised the treatment of 5 y/o little hans, by his father. Pd play therapy is based on the belief that kids' play has a symbolic, unconscious meaning... That can be observed, engaged & uncovered for diagnostic and healing purposes. A psychologist will let you know if they work with kids within a pd framework...
