A member asked:

What are some of the long term disabilities i might expect if my child had ivh?

3 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Hard to predict: Ivh is a common problem with the delicate premi & the outcome varies from no noticable effect to problems with fine & gross motor dysfunction and learning issues. No two kids are identical & some nicu grads who never have a ivh can have a similar outcome to those who did. Ivh is a marker of problems rather than a predictor for the future. The worst stage bleeds seem to have the worst outcome.
