Regulation : Albumin is protein the blood and is very important in controlling fluid shifts in the body. It helps maintain fluid within the vessel and prevents it from seeping into the tissue and causing swelling. If the Albumin is low, the volume of fluid inside the blood vessel is usually low causing low blood pressure even though the patient maybe swollen with excess fluid in the tissues outside the vessels.
