Combat muscle loss: No diet will reverse cirrhosis. However, with cirrhosis the body rapidly goes into "starvation" mode. During times of fasting, the body will break down muscle for energy and result in muscle loss. To combat this, eat several meals per day with plenty of protein. Most importantly, a bedtime snack such as boost plus or equivalent will reduce muscle loss during sleep.
