Because : Because this forum does not lend itself to accurate diagnosis of problems because of a lack of complete information regarding your problem and an inability to perform an exam, i recommend that you seek consultation with the oral and maxillofacial surgery program at a teaching institution, such as the university of north carolina. They will require a full set of your medical treatment records and any x-rays, these can be requested from you previous doctors.

After : After 12 years of issues, an online response is not likely to lead to much help. A clinical exam with full diagnostic records will be needed. As you seek help, google research can help, but also can lead to confusion. Tmj treatment is highly debated, but all methods have the same goal: pain relief. Look up info including neuromuscular care.

Unfortunatetly : Unfortunatetly we are unable to help you with this service, we need x-rays cat scan and a physical exam. Please try to find a TMJ specialist in your community. Have you had any interaction with the surgeon who operated you 12 years ago? You should pay him a visit if you haven't spoken to him since your surgery . I'm sorry for the agony you live with. Please let me know if you don't find a specialist to help you. Good luck.

Need evaluation.: You have to see a very experienced TMJ surgeon - oral surgeon. A variety of non-surgical and surgical treatments will usually help.
