Edema : Edema in the legs is swelling from fluid in the tissues. This can commonly be seen around the ankles. If you snore at night and are overweight, you may have sleep apnea causing the edema. Also some medications (anti-inflammatories, amlodipine. Gabapentin for example) can cause edema. If your veins do not work well and you are overweight and inactive, you may edema from these factors. Heart and kidney problems can also cause edema.Talk to your doctor about why you might have edema. Sodium restriction might help also.
