I : I imagine that by saying that you have not healed you mean you have pain or some disability . First you need to see the orthopedic surgeon to make sure evry thing is ok. Then he will give you advice on what to do or refer you to physical therapy to strenghten your muscles . Taking out the pins is not ussually need, but sometimes after an appropiatte time or because of inconviniences caused by them they are removed.

Orthopedics: I'm sure your situation is far too complex for a simple answer. Get a couple of opinions from different orthopedic docs. It depends what you mean by "healed". If you still have chronic open wounds that is almost certainly a chronic infection. If you mean you aren't back to pre-crash function then you may be as good as it is going to get.
