It : It sounds like you may be experiencing an arrythmia. I would like to suggest that if you have any symptoms with this (chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, weakness etc) that you be evaluated at the emergency room immediately. If this is assymptomatic then at minimum, recommend that you go to an acute care clinic. You need an ekg to try to capture the event, so that it can be diagnosed and properly treated.

As : As a cardiologist i see this concern quite frequently. Typically this is a benign process of skipped beats from either the top or the bottom of the heart. This will typically go away on its own and can offer be associated with stress, caffeine, or other stimulants. However, if you have any other concerning findings such as lightheartedness, shortness of breath, passing out, or chest pain then you should call your primary physician so they can check you out. One other item of concern is there is a possibility of an abnormal irregula rhythm called atrial fibrillation. This rhythm can put you at increased risk for stroke and would require an ECG or heart monitor to diagnose. My advice to you would be to call your pcp if your symptoms are still going on since you posted this several days ago. Hope this helps.
