At : At this point in time the best treatment is effective brushing and flossing. Four mm pockets are easily managed by patients with proper hygiene techniques. You dentist may recommend a special antibacterial prescription rinse if they feel you are not reaching the depths of the pockets properly.

You : You are in the early stages of periodontal disease, and those pockets may be difficult to keep clean at home. When is your next appointment with your dentist? Two months? Six months? What advice did she give you to do at home? Brushing alone will not solve your problem. Your dentist needs to manage this condition by giving you specific instructions regarding flossing, irrigation with medicaments, massaging, etc. Please consult with her and come up with a specific plan of action to help avoid further bone loss and potential loss of teeth.

At : At this point proper flossing which i name as c-shape flossing is most effective. Use a waxed floss and perform this technique twice each day. This means that each contact is done twice one goes down below the crown of the front tooth like the shape of c and once below the crown of the tooth behind the contact. The floss goes under the gum until you feel resistance. This way you try to clean all the debris below both teeth next to a contact.

PerioProtect Method: You cannot reduce those numbers with brushing & floss. Gum disease is a bacterial infection. Perio protect system of easy to wear trays that significantly reduces the bacteria (worn every day) , which allows the patient to heal. It does not rely on antibiotics which bacteria become resistant to. Only consistent reduction of bacteria will offer a long-term solution. www.perioprotect.com.
