When : When she looses a baby tooth, the permanent replacement won't be far behind. Keep her permanent teeth clean just as you did her baby teeth. By now, she should be able to brush and floss on her own.

The : The healing capacity of the mouth is truely amazing. Even after an extraction of an adult tooth the wound usually heals without any special hygiene measures taken. Since the loss of a baby tooth is such a natural occurrence, just the usual brushing should be all that is needed.

Tooth exchange: Your daughter should be brushing (gently) 2x/day w soft t'brush and pea-sized portion of fluoridated toothpaste for 2 FULL minutes by the clock. As brushing only cleans 65-70% of tooth structure she must be flossing (or having her parents floss her), or using a WaterPik, Every day. Very important that your daughter now see an Orthodontist for a (free) Initial Screening Examination (usually free).
